Preorder: Animals In Human Attire – Ourmegadawn (CD/Tape/Digital: 4-11-14)

Ourmegadawn

Preorder (out April 11th, 2014):

CD – $10
Digital $8
Cassette – $6

Murfie CD + Digital – $10

The arrival of Ourmegadawn has been a long time coming. Despite frequent appearances in Riverwest and the general Milwaukee area, Ourmegadawn is the first proper album since Animals In Human Attire’s 2011 self-titled outing.

Members of the band spread their talents amongst various local acts (including Temple, Myles Coyne & the Rusty Nickel Band, The Zelda Routine, and others), but this specific arrangement of BREADKING frequenters drives a particular sound with vocals by Jack Tell steering the ensemble.

Beyond all else, Ourmegadawn is fun. It’s eight tracks of head-bobbing, folk-informed indie rock, and like all things BREADKING, Animals In Human Attire takes a punk approach to the whole album.

mam245 - Lovely Socialite - Star-Spangled

mam245 – Lovely Socialite – Star-Spangled Single (Art Print & Digital)

After the successful Kickstarter-funded release of Registers Her Delight, Madison’s heavy hitting jazz rock ensemble Lovely Socialite Mrs. Thomas W. Phipps scattered to the wind.  Now living in multiple cities, the band has found the means to return to record their new, as-of-yet-untitled full-length album.  Mixing modern jazz with unique instrumentation (vibraphone, cello, bass, drums, trombone and Chinese instruments), Star-Spangled is the first single off the band’s new album.  Recorded just a month ago, the single includes Lovely Socialite’s take on the Star-Spangled Banner, as well as an extended improvisation.  Star-Spangled is being released as a limited edition 10-inch art print and digital download. Part II: Ben Schapiro’s 617-797-5411 Updated

For those of you who haven’t already checked out Ben Schapiro’s excellent album “617-797-5411” (stream it above or click below for more info), we’ve got another great reason to check it out.  This incredibly intimate album has recently been updated to include Part II, which adds five new songs recorded this summer since the original release of the album.  The album also updates a few earlier recordings.  Physical copies coming soon.

“617-797-5411” is an intimate glimpse into the soul and psyche of Ben Schapiro, one of Madison’s best-loved underground musicians.  Before leaving Madison for parts unknown, Ben was a staple of Madison’s house show scene, often as part of the band Dirty Jive.  The album shows Ben’s skill and craftsmanship on the acoustic guitar without ever abandoning the delicacy and honesty of his poetry.
