Sing Forward! Remix Contest

Sing Forward

Today is the culmination of a lot of work by a lot of cool people, and I wanted to make sure we shared it with you.  “Sing Forward” is a music video and grassroots promotional campaign designed to make sure YOU know the healthcare options available to you via healthcare.gov.  The song includes our good friends Myles Coyne, Anna Vogelzang, Shawn Pierce, Kyle Pfister and many more.

As I mentioned in my post over on the Murfie blog, it can be difficult for entrepreneurs, musicians and other creative professionals to know what coverage is available to them.  According to a recent national survey of artists conducted by the Future of Music Coalition, 43% of musicians lack health coverage – more than twice the average rate.  The more personal income derived from art, the less likely the artist is to be insured.

Pursuing creative, risky or bold endeavors should not mean having to risk your health.  Sing Forward aims to guide artists toward protection.  In addition to the music video, which can be viewed at SingForwardWI.com, Ninjas for Health are promoting an awesome remix contest.

Mine All Mine is proud to sponsor the remix contest, along with MadCity Music Exchange, Urban Community Arts Network, Murfie, High Noon Saloon and other Wisconsin music supporters.  To participate, submit your remix, cover or singalong in audio or video format via the Sing Forward site by February 14th.

Winners will be announced March 1st, and prizes include:

  • Mine All Mine Records Prize Pack
  • $50 Overture Center gift certificate
  • 2 True Endeavors concert tickets
  • albums from Strictly Discs and MadCity Music Exchange
  • 1 year of Murfie Gold + $10 Murfie credit
  • $50 cash prize from Ninjas for Health

OUT TONIGHT: The Fatty Acids’ third full-length album, Boléro.

mam246 - The Fatty Acids - Boléro

Digital (Bandcamp)
Limited Edition Cassette Tape – Available 9/7: Cassette Store Day

Just in time for the first ever Cassette Store Day, Mine All Mine is happy to present the limited edition tape release of the third full-length album by The Fatty Acids. Boléro is an insane – both in concept and content. On Boléro, The Fatty Acids are half a dozen grown boys making incredibly powerful and inventive pop rock tunes.

Side A starts with the album’s most driving song, Girls and Gods, with clapping and wailing voices that soon give way to an almost ballad-like state, only to morph once again in a bouncy irreverence. Perhaps most interesting are The Fatty Acids’ choices when it comes to melody and harmony – they are legitimately unpredictable yet perfectly understandable.

If you’re interested, grab your copy now! Mine All Mine has very limited quantities of the cassette release. For digital and other physical formats, consult The Fatty Acids directly, who are self-releasing this excellent album with a release show at The Pabst Theater in Milwaukee, WI with Faux Fir and Sat. Nite Duets.

Editor’s Note:
All songs written, recorded and mixed by The Fatty Acids in 2011-13, Mostly in Milwaukee, WI. Mastered by Emily Lazar at The Lodge NYC, assisted by Rich Morales. All songs copyright The Fatty Acids.

Supplementary vocals on “Sportskin” by Monica Martin. Supplementary vocals on “Worst Part” by Joel Van Haren, Molly “Cool Coach” Stepnik and Ben Gucciardi.

mam245 - Lovely Socialite - Star-Spangled

mam245 – Lovely Socialite – Star-Spangled Single (Art Print & Digital)

After the successful Kickstarter-funded release of Registers Her Delight, Madison’s heavy hitting jazz rock ensemble Lovely Socialite Mrs. Thomas W. Phipps scattered to the wind.  Now living in multiple cities, the band has found the means to return to record their new, as-of-yet-untitled full-length album.  Mixing modern jazz with unique instrumentation (vibraphone, cello, bass, drums, trombone and Chinese instruments), Star-Spangled is the first single off the band’s new album.  Recorded just a month ago, the single includes Lovely Socialite’s take on the Star-Spangled Banner, as well as an extended improvisation.  Star-Spangled is being released as a limited edition 10-inch art print and digital download. Announcing Lost City Music Festival 2013: August 8th-11th

Lost City Music Festival 2013

Mine All Mine Records is proud to announce the second annual Lost City Music Festival in Madison, Wisconsin.  The festival will be held from August 8th to 11th with shows at the High Noon Saloon, the Dragonfly Lounge and Bright Red Studios (+  one announced secret venue).

After the success of last year’s festival, the crew behind the Lost City Music Festival decided to aim for focus with the second iteration.  This year, the Lost City crew has put a heavier emphasis on local acts and tightly paired billings.  The Lost City Music Festival 2013 will be an even better experience than before.

The Lost City Music Festival was founded in part to fill a cultural gap the crew perceived.  That is, a low-cost music event featuring a range of styles and a focus on local and regional artists.  The crew has continued to listen to the community’s concerns and needs in regards to last year’s music festival and the scene(s) as a whole.

In keeping with that tradition, all performers at the Lost City Music Festival 2013 will be fairly compensated for their contributions.  A portion of all sales will continue to benefit local music charities, and artists will be given the option to donate to these charities at their own discretion.
