{{BREADKING}} Temple – The Conscience of The King

Temple - The Conscience of The King

I met the boys in Milwaukee’s Temple a number of years ago, back when they were playing under the name Arto.  Over the course of a summer, they became good friends of mine.  In the time since, we’ve released a number of their related projects (mam105, mam 174, mam181 and mam212 among others), and Myles even joined my band Pushmi-Pullyu for a while.

Today, after a LONG wait, Temple has finally released their first full-length album under this name.  It’s heavy, noisy post-hardcore that oozes with the emotion all four members throw into everything they make.  Check it out in digital form on their bandcamp page.  My favorite tunes are Football on Stage and Smooth Sculpture, and I can’t wait for the physical release that’s coming soon.

Buzz: Six-Gun Rhythm’s debut reviewed

The pinnacle interest of the album, however, is Palmer’s wailing drunken slur; equal parts Gerard Way, Julian Casablancas, and Dolly Parton.

~ Jimmy Roxy, Mezzic

Head over to the music blog Mezzic, where they’ve given Six-Gun Rhythm’s debut self-titled release some love.  They gave it an 8.3/10.  You can also stream or purchase “Six-Gun Rhythm” here.

New Release: Myles Coyne – I Love You mom

Myles Coyne has been a friend of the label for a long time. For a while in 2009, he was a member of Pushmi-Pullyu, helping shape the future of the band. He’s also a member of several Milwaukee-based bands, including Animals in Human Attire (whose sampler we released), Temple, Myles Coyne & the Rusty Nickel Band and DW & Co. (who put a track on our 200th release). After we met, he went on to create the Bread King collective, a small group of Milwaukee bands doing DIY releases.

“I Love You Mom” is a lo-fi acoustic folk EP recorded live in Myles’ bedroom as a gift for his mom. Today, the day after Valentine’s Day, we offer this EP to you (minus one track too special for release).

To celebrate, we are setting free five releases from 2011 that were previously not available for free download.  For the next week, you can download the following five albums and EPs absolutely free!  You can still visit the download page to send some money to the artist(s), but for now, this is our gift to you.  Continue below for descriptions and download links.
