Record Store Day 2013

Record Store Day Haul 2013

I normally don’t do much blog-type writing here on the Mine All Mine site.  I try to keep it all business and promo, but we’re big fans of Record Store Day over here.  Earlier today, Tom Teslik released his new single at a special busking set outside MadCity Music Exchange, and I personally spent way too much money on music.  I’ve shared my haul below, and I’d love to hear what you walked away with.  Let me know in the comments!

{{BREADKING}} Temple – The Conscience of The King

Temple - The Conscience of The King

I met the boys in Milwaukee’s Temple a number of years ago, back when they were playing under the name Arto.  Over the course of a summer, they became good friends of mine.  In the time since, we’ve released a number of their related projects (mam105, mam 174, mam181 and mam212 among others), and Myles even joined my band Pushmi-Pullyu for a while.

Today, after a LONG wait, Temple has finally released their first full-length album under this name.  It’s heavy, noisy post-hardcore that oozes with the emotion all four members throw into everything they make.  Check it out in digital form on their bandcamp page.  My favorite tunes are Football on Stage and Smooth Sculpture, and I can’t wait for the physical release that’s coming soon.

PREVIEW: Lost City Winter Series Finale!

Man Mantis, Everending Kicks, Double Ewes (03-19-2013)

Can you believe it?  Today, March 19th, is the last day of winter!  Maybe it doesn’t feel like it, but I think it’s okay to celebrate the coming of the Vernal Equinox anyway.

Tonight, we’ll do exactly that in our 9th and final Lost City Winter Series show.  While I love all of the artists that have come through this wonderful winter shindig, I am admittedly more excited about this show than any other so far.  We’ve got Madison-favorites Man Mantis and Double Ewes, as well as Paul A. Benson (of Mt. Eerie, LAKE, etc) performing as Ever Ending Kicks.

Read on below for a taste of what’s to come.  And thanks for sticking with us!

PREVIEW: Lost City Winter Series #8

Lost City Winter Series

Feel that air warming up?  Spring is coming, and that means we’re nearing the end of our Lost City Winter Series.  That’s a bummer, but these last two shows are going to be great.  Tonight, from Madison, we have Jamie Yanda, Snouts and Fluorescent Pig.  Driving in from Milwaukee is YLLA.  This is our second-to-last Winter Series show, so I hope we’ll see you there!

What’s An Album Look Like? (Or: GPSYMTH’s Crazy Pretty Limited Edition Moths)

GPSYMTH

Those are albums.

More specifically, those are copies of Ripostes by GPSYMTH.  Out today on Stars & Letters, this limited edition of twenty (only 20!) comes in the form of a Madagascan Sunset Moth (Chrysiridia rhipheus) in a 1.25 oz glass vial.  Ripostes comes with immediate download of the album, including bonus remixes by MOTION CTRL and Iglooos.

With the popularity of digital downloads and download codes, almost anything can be an “album.”  What’s important, then, is the artistry.  Stars & Letters have gotten all of that right.  These bottled specimens are honestly beautiful, and Ripostes is an excellent debut for GPSYMTH (read: gypsy moth).

See more shots of the Ripostes Moth in Glass Vial Edition here.  Get your copy here before they’re all gone.  I’ve already snagged mine.

BUZZ: Pushmi-Pullyu on Mixtapes|Heartbreaks

Mixtapes|Heartbreaks

As you may know, Pushmi-Pullyu has been working on new album – for a very long time.  Word is, that album is nearing completion.  (FINALLY!)

In related news, the Mixtapes|Heartbreaks blog recently featured Pushmi-Pullyu’s “In the Bleak Midwinter” in their March MP3 Roundup.  “In the Bleak Midwinter” was originally arranged for a performance a few years back on WYOU’s Just Say Ho! Telethon, which required local bands to play at least one holiday tune.  Pushmi-Pullyu chose an old Christmastime hymn, turning it into a sort-of love song.  (We then released it as mam233.)

Check out “In the Bleak Midwinter,” as well as Mixtapes|Heartbreaks’s other March picks here.  For updates on the album, follow the band on Facebook and/or Twitter.
