New Release: 22 June 2010

COMMENT & DOWNLOAD

This week’s new release is the first installment of Fourteen Twentysix’s APRX|ETA series.  This album features electronic artist EXM remixing material from Fourteen Twentysix’s most recent album, Lighttown Closure.

Check back on July 15th when mam!records begins hosting a remix contest to create APRX|ETA 02.  Artists will be able to download the entire set of master stems from Lighttown Closure and submit one or more remixes.  There will be exclusive prizes as well.

New Releases: 16 June 2010

Today, we are very proud to bring you Castles new full-length album, Howl IV.  After a year and a half, we finally have this wonderfully crafted album in our hands, and everything is bigger and better than ever.  Eleven solid tracks of experimental folk, ranging from minimalist to almost-black-metal-at-times, Howl IV gives you another long-awaited glimpse into the world of Castles.

Along with Howl IV (released in cooperation with the Bread King Collective) comes a very special three-track mam!records exclusive EP, Black Hole or No Black Hole.

Due to technical issues (John’s mom has crappy internet), these releases are currently only available in mp3, but they’ll be up in all other formats as soon as possible.

New Release – 25 May 2010

Today’s new release is an experimental ep comprised of a single flowing twelve-minute track by The Cryogenic Strawberries.  It is certainly hard to pin down, but the track moves from ambient to folk/freak-folk, from psychedelic to downright creepy – it’s all here. In recent weeks, we’ve given you a lot of more accessible sounds here, so it’s a bit of a relief to show the more experimental side of mam!records.  We hope to continue bringing you unique sounds and new projects.

The News – 17 May 2010

The News - 17 May 2010

Happy 17th of May to my Norwegian brethren!

After a full day of working on mamrecords.com and the label in general, I thought I’d give you guys an update on all of the great stuff that has been happening and is about to happen.  There’s a lot of news, so I’ll keep everything brief (it won’t be easy).  If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask.

NEW CONTENT EVERY WEEK
The first and perhaps biggest piece of news is that from now on, mam!records will be releasing new material each and every week.  Every Tuesday, you can visit mamrecords.com for a brand new release.  On top of full releaseses every Tuesday, some weeks will also feature bonus singles, or other content.  We have at least thirty releases lined up, so stay tuned.  If you’ve already released material with mam!records, let me know as soon as possible that you are working on something.  The current wait is about four months, but we can make special exceptions to coincide with special events.  And singles do not take up a release slot, so don’t be shy to promote an upcoming release.

RAINY DAY MIXTAPE GOES MONTHLY
That brings us to the next bit of news.  Our compilation series, the rainy day mixtape, is now monthly.  New installments of the series will come out on the first Friday of every month (generally speaking).  Some of them will be open submissions like we’ve done in the past, but many will now feature special themes – some open, some by invitation only.  In addition to special themed installments, you can look forward to guest-curators.

Next month’s rainy day mixtape is already underway.  The month after that will feature a special theme, and it will be curated by my right-hand man, Corey Murphy (aka K. Wilhelm and half of Pushmi-Pullyu).  More info on that soon.

PROJECT: MAM!RESTORATION

During the month of April, things were slow (at least when it pertains to mam!records), so I decided to start a project I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.  In the past, releases were often only made available in mp3 format, because of a combination of bandwidth issues, user support and artist support.  Looking forward, however, I kept as many releases in lossless format as I could possibly get.  Now, these have all been uploaded in several formats.  This means thirty-six new releases are available for the first time in lossless formats, so go lend your ears.

With the completion of this project also comes the completion of the downloads page.  Our entire back catalogue is now up in the highest quality I could possibly give you.  It also means the launch of the Projects page on mamrecords.com.  Here, you can view information about special categories of releases, series and other projects past and present (ex. the Clouds EP series, compilations, mam!restoration, etc).

OPEN SUBMISSIONS / NEW ARTISTS
Not long ago, mam!records started actively seeking submissions from new artists.  The result has been a continually increasing number of artists in our community.  If you know anyone who might be a good fit for our community, please send them to the submissions page.

Below is a (most-likely incomplete, so sorry if I missed you) list of new artists you can look forward to hearing from.  This does not, of course, mean that we will be forgetting our regulars.  Quite the contrary.  Our most dedicated and veteran mam!records artists have a huge number of amazing releases coming very soon.
