News: Sam Thomas Signs To Just Music

Mine All Mine Records is proud to announce that Sam Thomas – whose Continuous Soundtrack we released back in July – has recently signed to UK label Just Music.  You can read more about Just Music and their awesome artists here.  This is certainly an exciting move forward in Sam’s career, and we’re happy to have had him with us.

As part of this process, Sam is getting the opportunity to re-record and release Continuous Soundtrack as part of a whole new album.  To facilitate Sam’s transition to Just Music (and so that Sam can offer the very best he can), we will be retiring our previously released version of the Continuous Soundtrack.

Out of respect for the music and our listeners, we are giving you all one last chance to download Sam’s excellent work before he moves on to bigger and better things.  You can download it here until 4 PM CST (GMT -6) tomorrow, Friday. [UPDATE: The time has passed.  Thanks for all of those who downloaded it in the last day.]

Best wishes to Sam in his future endeavors,
John Praw & co.

P.S.  If you want more of Sam’s excellent work, he’s part of the band Saiga, whose debut EP you can download for free here.

New Releases: 6 July 2010

Is it Tuesday already?  Well, you know what that means!  New free music from mam!records.

Our first release today is Sam Thomas‘ amazing “Continuous Soundtrack.”  Designed to score a large number of potential films, it covers a wide range of genres – much like his band’s recent EP here – AND this piece is available for free use in your film projects with proper credit.

The second release today is the first full-length collaborative effort from Dad School and Given Willingly.  These guys are long-time mam!records family members, and with this release you get something specific to their combined styles.  Sometimes ambient, sometimes noisy, sometimes shoegazey – you get the picture.

You can stream, download and comment on today’s new releases by clicking the album cover below.  I’m sure the artists would love to hear what you think!

The News – 17 May 2010

The News - 17 May 2010

Happy 17th of May to my Norwegian brethren!

After a full day of working on mamrecords.com and the label in general, I thought I’d give you guys an update on all of the great stuff that has been happening and is about to happen.  There’s a lot of news, so I’ll keep everything brief (it won’t be easy).  If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask.

NEW CONTENT EVERY WEEK
The first and perhaps biggest piece of news is that from now on, mam!records will be releasing new material each and every week.  Every Tuesday, you can visit mamrecords.com for a brand new release.  On top of full releaseses every Tuesday, some weeks will also feature bonus singles, or other content.  We have at least thirty releases lined up, so stay tuned.  If you’ve already released material with mam!records, let me know as soon as possible that you are working on something.  The current wait is about four months, but we can make special exceptions to coincide with special events.  And singles do not take up a release slot, so don’t be shy to promote an upcoming release.

RAINY DAY MIXTAPE GOES MONTHLY
That brings us to the next bit of news.  Our compilation series, the rainy day mixtape, is now monthly.  New installments of the series will come out on the first Friday of every month (generally speaking).  Some of them will be open submissions like we’ve done in the past, but many will now feature special themes – some open, some by invitation only.  In addition to special themed installments, you can look forward to guest-curators.

Next month’s rainy day mixtape is already underway.  The month after that will feature a special theme, and it will be curated by my right-hand man, Corey Murphy (aka K. Wilhelm and half of Pushmi-Pullyu).  More info on that soon.

PROJECT: MAM!RESTORATION

During the month of April, things were slow (at least when it pertains to mam!records), so I decided to start a project I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.  In the past, releases were often only made available in mp3 format, because of a combination of bandwidth issues, user support and artist support.  Looking forward, however, I kept as many releases in lossless format as I could possibly get.  Now, these have all been uploaded in several formats.  This means thirty-six new releases are available for the first time in lossless formats, so go lend your ears.

With the completion of this project also comes the completion of the downloads page.  Our entire back catalogue is now up in the highest quality I could possibly give you.  It also means the launch of the Projects page on mamrecords.com.  Here, you can view information about special categories of releases, series and other projects past and present (ex. the Clouds EP series, compilations, mam!restoration, etc).

OPEN SUBMISSIONS / NEW ARTISTS
Not long ago, mam!records started actively seeking submissions from new artists.  The result has been a continually increasing number of artists in our community.  If you know anyone who might be a good fit for our community, please send them to the submissions page.

Below is a (most-likely incomplete, so sorry if I missed you) list of new artists you can look forward to hearing from.  This does not, of course, mean that we will be forgetting our regulars.  Quite the contrary.  Our most dedicated and veteran mam!records artists have a huge number of amazing releases coming very soon.
