Today’s new release is a post-rock/ambient split between I Am The Architect and John Praw. Recorded in Germany and Norway, “Gate” explores themes both lofty and desolate.
The News – 5 June 2010
Not too long ago, we made a number of big new announcements, one of which was the new release schedule. Since we’ve gotten a number of questions about it, I thought I would make a post explaining the release schedule and what it means.
There will be new releases every single week, barring any unforeseen complications. Each week has two release slots. One slot is reserved for regular releases, and one slot is reserved for shorter releases as part of our Singles Club. In addition, we will release a compilation every month.
This is not set in stone, of course. Sometimes both release slots will be filled with full EPs/albums/splits/etc. Sometimes we’ll only have one release during the week. Some months may not have a compilation. But regardless of these minor fluctuations, you can expect new music every week. You should also note that physical releases (we’ve got several planned) do not take up a release slot.
No on to what this means and why we’re doing it. We currently have a very large queue of unreleased items that are scheduled to come out (around forty). The downside to this is that artists and their listeners may have to wait as long as four or five months for their release to come out. But the upside is that we can dedicate the time each release deserves. Each release will get about the same amount of face time, and things won’t get buried so quickly. This also means that we can provide a steady stream of content. In the end, the wait will be worth it.
Artists: if you are submitting material or have a release planned, let us know as soon as possible, and be prepared to wait four or five months. Take this opportunity to push yourself toward a goal, and let us know if you’d like to do an issue of the Singles Club in the meantime.
This next week: There might be some hiccups as John (that’s me) is moving from Norway to Wisconsin on the 10th. Releases scheduled for the 8th, 10th and 15th might be affected, but if all goes to plan, Corey will be able to get those releases up on time.
New Release: 1 June 2010
Today’s new release comes from Wisconsin-based mam!records supergroup Fambly Fun!, who are back with the follow up to their debut release. This time, the Fambly is bigger and better than ever with their brand of crazy hip-hop. Math In Space – a concept album – features the Fambly rapping about the love between a man and a planet, ill-spitting killer whales, street hockey matches with Kim Jong-Il, and much, much more.
New Logo (29 May 2010)

Check out our new logo. It’s not perfect, but it’s more legal than our last logo, which we did not have the actual rights to. If you have ideas for another logo, comment below or send us an email.
New Release – 25 May 2010
Today’s new release is an experimental ep comprised of a single flowing twelve-minute track by The Cryogenic Strawberries. It is certainly hard to pin down, but the track moves from ambient to folk/freak-folk, from psychedelic to downright creepy – it’s all here. In recent weeks, we’ve given you a lot of more accessible sounds here, so it’s a bit of a relief to show the more experimental side of mam!records. We hope to continue bringing you unique sounds and new projects.
New Releases – 18 May 2010
Today we bring you two wonderful new releases for your listening pleasure. The first is Amy Hiller’s wonderful debut, The Made Up EP. She takes sounds from various sources and creates a collage of laid-back experimental trip-hop sounds. The second is Jamie Yanda’s brilliant single, What Is Worship. Listen to the powerfully emotive track off his debut solo EP, as well as two exclusive B-sides.
The News – 17 May 2010

Happy 17th of May to my Norwegian brethren!
After a full day of working on mamrecords.com and the label in general, I thought I’d give you guys an update on all of the great stuff that has been happening and is about to happen. There’s a lot of news, so I’ll keep everything brief (it won’t be easy). If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask.
NEW CONTENT EVERY WEEK
The first and perhaps biggest piece of news is that from now on, mam!records will be releasing new material each and every week. Every Tuesday, you can visit mamrecords.com for a brand new release. On top of full releaseses every Tuesday, some weeks will also feature bonus singles, or other content. We have at least thirty releases lined up, so stay tuned. If you’ve already released material with mam!records, let me know as soon as possible that you are working on something. The current wait is about four months, but we can make special exceptions to coincide with special events. And singles do not take up a release slot, so don’t be shy to promote an upcoming release.
RAINY DAY MIXTAPE GOES MONTHLY
That brings us to the next bit of news. Our compilation series, the rainy day mixtape, is now monthly. New installments of the series will come out on the first Friday of every month (generally speaking). Some of them will be open submissions like we’ve done in the past, but many will now feature special themes – some open, some by invitation only. In addition to special themed installments, you can look forward to guest-curators.
Next month’s rainy day mixtape is already underway. The month after that will feature a special theme, and it will be curated by my right-hand man, Corey Murphy (aka K. Wilhelm and half of Pushmi-Pullyu). More info on that soon.
PROJECT: MAM!RESTORATION
During the month of April, things were slow (at least when it pertains to mam!records), so I decided to start a project I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. In the past, releases were often only made available in mp3 format, because of a combination of bandwidth issues, user support and artist support. Looking forward, however, I kept as many releases in lossless format as I could possibly get. Now, these have all been uploaded in several formats. This means thirty-six new releases are available for the first time in lossless formats, so go lend your ears.
With the completion of this project also comes the completion of the downloads page. Our entire back catalogue is now up in the highest quality I could possibly give you. It also means the launch of the Projects page on mamrecords.com. Here, you can view information about special categories of releases, series and other projects past and present (ex. the Clouds EP series, compilations, mam!restoration, etc).
OPEN SUBMISSIONS / NEW ARTISTS
Not long ago, mam!records started actively seeking submissions from new artists. The result has been a continually increasing number of artists in our community. If you know anyone who might be a good fit for our community, please send them to the submissions page.
Below is a (most-likely incomplete, so sorry if I missed you) list of new artists you can look forward to hearing from. This does not, of course, mean that we will be forgetting our regulars. Quite the contrary. Our most dedicated and veteran mam!records artists have a huge number of amazing releases coming very soon.

SPECIAL LONDON
DOUBLE FEATURE
This week, mam!records is proud to bring you our very special London Double Feature. That’s right! We have two wonderful new releases, both of which are debut EPs from new London acts.
The first is Beatoven‘s amazing electronic / post-rock / jazz release, the Fully Baked EP. The second is titled Agree To Disagree, and comes courtesy of the most excellent post-rock / psychedelic / rock-n-roll outfit Saiga. Click below to listen, download and comment to your heart’s content.
