News: 31 July 2010

These pipes are clean!   Well, the nasty wisdom teeth are gone, at the very least.  The procedure took THREE MINUTES (after numbing, of course – I’m not THAT manly), and there has been almost no pain after.

To celebrate my luck and general good mood, we will have a special Lightning Round Week.  That’s right, next week, you will find a brand new free release EVERY WEEKDAY!

Here’s the lineup, with links to the artists:

MondayGiven Willingly – Water & Sleep Single
Tuesday Eurasia. – Rast
WednesdayWarm Waves – Lifted EP
ThursdayPokket – Lint EP
FridayFambly Fun! – As It Always Was

See you next week,
John Praw

News: 26 July 2010

Normally, mam!records offers new free music each and every Tuesday.  This week, however, things will be a bit different.  Tomorrow, I will be going in to have three wisdom teeth removed.  The dentist doesn’t think they’ll be much trouble, but they need to come out.

Instead of worrying about whether I’ll feel up to the task of getting everything up and running for the week, I have decided to take a one week “medical” hiatus.  If all goes to plan, though, next week will be loaded with some amazing releases from some of my personal favorite mam!records artists.

We’ll also start dishing out news about some of our latest additions to the mam!records family.  There are at least half a dozen new artists waiting to make their way into your ears.  (For those wondering, our upcoming release queue is just about ready to break into 2011…)

~John Praw

P.S.  If you haven’t already, check out information on our HUGE Fourteen Twentysix remix competition.

EDIT: I will NOT be sedated for the extraction.  I will, however, get local anesthetic (of course), and possibly laughing gas on top.

New Release: 20 July 2010

COMMENT & DOWNLOAD

This week, we bring you a new release by a new artist (new to us, at least).  Swin Deorin comes to mam!records for the first time with Droloinh, a noisy, experimental take on breakcore / dark idm.

You can check out his myspace page for plenty of other great releases on other great labels.

There will also be another new release soon from Eurasia., though some slight technical difficulties have delayed it until Friday (if not earlier).

New Releases: 6 July 2010

Is it Tuesday already?  Well, you know what that means!  New free music from mam!records.

Our first release today is Sam Thomas‘ amazing “Continuous Soundtrack.”  Designed to score a large number of potential films, it covers a wide range of genres – much like his band’s recent EP here – AND this piece is available for free use in your film projects with proper credit.

The second release today is the first full-length collaborative effort from Dad School and Given Willingly.  These guys are long-time mam!records family members, and with this release you get something specific to their combined styles.  Sometimes ambient, sometimes noisy, sometimes shoegazey – you get the picture.

You can stream, download and comment on today’s new releases by clicking the album cover below.  I’m sure the artists would love to hear what you think!
